Baker College dean named one of 100 ‘Modern Men of Distinction’ by national magazine

    Moorer is an educator, mentor, author and father, and runs a not-for-profit organization that awards student scholarships and K-12 educator grants. Early on, he flunked out of college to later earn a doctorate in business administration. He has received numerous awards, has a top-selling book and has been a TED Talk speaker. Baker College offers undergraduate business programs at each of its on-ground campuses and online. Master’s and doctoral degrees in business are offered online.

    Cleamon Moorer Jr., DBA, Baker College’s dean of the College of Business, has been named one of Black Enterprise magazine’s Modern Men of Distinction and referred to as “Mr. Higher Education.” The Modern Men of Distinction feature challenges the narrative of black men by media and popular culture.

    Cleamon Moorer Jr., right, helped bring Beyond Basics’ Leadership Day 2017 to Baker College’s Auburn Hills campus. He is a Beyond Basics board member and one of the community leaders who spoke to about 90 Detroit high school students that day. Moorer is pictured with Peter Karsten, Baker College of Auburn Hills president. This is the first time the event was hosted at a higher education organization. Beyond Basics is a literacy nonprofit serving students in Metropolitan Detroit public schools.
