Better Made Snack Foods Celebrates 93rd Anniversary

DETROIT — Better Made Snack Foods – one of Michigan’s best-known iconic brand names –launched its 93rd anniversary celebration Tuesday leading up to National Potato Day, Saturday, Aug. 19.

The company will celebrate with give-aways via Facebook and Instagram weekly throughout August, with each winner receiving a deluxe gift box filled with freshly made Better Made Snacks.

Founded in 1930 as Cross and Peters Company, Better Made is still family owned, still in Detroit and still supporting the community, including University of Michigan CS Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society located in Southfield.

The company has won numerous awards and accolades for its snack foods over the years, and part of Better Made’s success story is the development and release of delicious new products. Another component of the company’s success is its commitment to community endeavors, such as its annual fundraiser for National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in its annual Block Out Cancer campaign, which begins on Sept. 1. Better Made donates a portion of sales of all Family Size and Value Size potato chips, as well as 2.5 oz pork rinds in September to CS Mott. The blue Block Out Cancer displays will be in stores throughout September.

“I consider it a true privilege to have worked for such an outstanding company as Better Made for some time now,” said Dave Jones, President of Better Made Snack Foods. “We have an incredible team working with us and for us, and a customer base that is second to none. It truly is the employees and customers that make this all possible. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
