Diversity-Focused Company
This category is for Michigan companies that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Created or initiated community initiatives, or redirected resources and donations to support at risk minority groups during the COVID-19 Crisis.
- Clearly defines and monitors diversity success and demonstrates how diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts add value to the company.
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within its work force and among its suppliers.
- Enhances the employee’s quality of life by fostering an inclusive and safe workplace.
- Recruits and readily makes accommodations for women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled employees.
- Fosters career development and advancement of women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled employees.
- Supports community outreach programs designed to encourage and celebrate diversity and advancement of women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled employees.
- Has special programs, initiatives and/or strategies to capitalize on the opportunities or respond to the challenges created by the diversity of employees, suppliers, customers, and communities.
Diversity Champion
This category is for community organizations and nonprofits that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Created or initiated community initiatives, or redirected resources and donations to support at risk minority groups during the COVID-19 Crisis.
- Responsible for creating, sustaining, or promoting special programs, initiatives, strategies to capitalize on opportunities or respond to challenges tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion, advancement of women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled employees. and community support.
- Encourages community awareness, understanding and relationships in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Promotes diversity education and training.
- Highlights diverse events and accomplishments.
- Fosters civic involvement to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Diversity Business Leader
This category is for individuals who are minority business leaders that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Created or initiated community initiatives, or redirected resources and donations to support at risk minority groups during the COVID-19 Crisis.
- The top officer of a minority-owned business, including a woman-owned and veteran-owned business.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion leader or role model.
- Successful leader inside and outside the company.
- Demonstrates skills in maintaining a safe, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
- Involved in civic and community activities that promote diversity and support women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled progress in the workplace and leadership.
- Embodies a vision that develops and supports diversity strategies and women, minorities/people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled people’s advancement within their organization and beyond.
- Encourages employee involvement and volunteerism in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
