Nine Design + Homes and Community Financial Credit Union’s Relentless Care Foundation Team Up to Secure Housing Stability for Detroit’s Fitzgerald Neighborhood
Community Financial Credit Union, a 15 branch and growing Michigan-based credit union helping moms, teachers, students and members find belonging and financial family, celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Detroit office branch (22326 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48219), and celebrated the remarkable success of the Roof the Block initiative, a partnership between Nine Design + Homes, the stars of HGTV’s Bargain Block, and the Relentless Care Foundation.
“Through our Relentless Care Foundation and the Roof the Block initiative, it’s a privilege to support the impossible dreams of our Fitzgerald neighbors and homes they’ve built their lives around,” said Tansley Stearns, president & CEO of Community Financial Credit Union. “Housing stability is a pillar of strong communities and our Foundation. We’re honored to be part of this effort to sustain lasting change.”
With the initial investment of $50K from the Relentless Care Foundation, Roof the Block aims to strengthen this vibrant neighborhood, improving housing security and supporting the generational wealth of its residents. Brilliant Detroit, a nonprofit focused on empowering local communities, has joined the effort to ensure the program is deeply rooted in the neighborhood’s needs.
“Roof the Block represents the heart of our work—making a tangible difference in the lives of people by focusing on housing security, a key element of community strength,” said Matt Nahan, executive director of the Relentless Care Foundation. “We’re excited to collaborate with Nine Design + Homes and Brilliant Detroit, working together to preserve the homes and legacies of Fitzgerald’s long-time residents. This initiative is about more than roofs; it’s about creating an environment where families can continue to thrive.”
