Council Re|Sale Store Holds Fall Showcase Fashion Event

Southfield, Mich. (Aug. 11, 2025) –  Council Re|Sale (3297 W. 12 Mile Road, Berkley, MI 48072) one of the oldest resale shops in metro Detroit which recently celebrated its 90th anniversary, will be holding its annual Fall Showcase on Sun. Aug. 24 from noon to 4:30 p.m. The popular event, which frequently sees eager shoppers lining up around the building, will feature fall fashion and accessories for both men and women at bargain prices, and will include high end brands including Free People, Johnny Was, Eileen Fisher, Stuart Weitzman, Ralph Lauren Polo for men and Eddie Bauer; there will also be a mini boutique of the luxury fashion house St. John. Council Re | Sale is operated by National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan (NCJW|MI) and is known for carrying high-end clothing, including designer wear, jewelry, shoes and household items all donated by the community. The store expanded by 4,400 sq. ft. earlier this year, offering the opportunity for more treasures to be available on the shop floor. Ahead of Fall Showcase, shoppers hoping to stock up on last-minute summer clothing, accessories and home decor, can enjoy some special sales:

    • Mon. Aug.18 and Tues. Aug. 19, all items, including home décor and jewelry, are 75 percent off
    • Wed. Aug. 20 there will be a $30 fill-a-bag sale (excluding home décor and jewelry)
    • Thurs. Aug. 21 to Sat. Sept 23 the store will be closed in preparation for Fall Showcase

“Many fashion forward shoppers may be struggling with their clothing budgets this upcoming season due to skyrocketing grocery prices and the economic uncertainty we are all facing,” said NCJW|MI President Amy Zeskind. “Council Re|Sale is bursting with wonderful brands of clothing at bargain prices and shopping here is a way to stretch your dollars further without sacrificing your style. In addition, you are giving back to the community because NCJW|MI then uses your dollars to support its many programs that help women, children and families.”

Recent projects of the 134-year-old organization include the annual Back 2 School Store which provides free clothing and school supplies to 900 Detroit children in need each year, and another program which provides backpacks and school supplies to 1000 homeless children through Oakland Schools Homeless Student Service plus 500 children in need identified through Jewish Family Service. Other initiatives include literacy outreach, fleece blankets for children in hospitals and in foster care, and Kosher Meals on Wheels. The organization is also at the forefront of voter advocacy and women’s reproductive rights, holding programs and educational initiatives to promote these issues.

Council Re|Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; donations of clothing and home décor (not books or children’s clothing currently) are accepted Monday through Saturday, excluding Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will not be accepted from Aug. 15-24 in preparation for Fall Showcase.
