9th Season on Tap for Downtown Detroit Markets

Downtown Detroit Markets are returning for their ninth season.

Since launching in 2017, the markets have transformed Cadillac Square into a premier holiday shopping destination, serving as a launching pad for more than 170 small businesses and generating over $7 million in sales.

Detroit entrepreneurs and small business owners are encouraged to apply.

“The Downtown Detroit Markets have become a holiday tradition that reflects the strength of our small business community,” said Linda Nosegbe, director of Economic Mobility for the Gilbert Family Foundation. “Beyond shopping, it’s about expanding economic opportunity, supporting Detroit entrepreneurs and showcasing the creativity that fuels our city.”

Organizers are currently seeking established and emerging vendors with stand-out, family-friendly products to join this year’s cohort. Ideal applicants are product-based businesses with at least two years of operation in the city of Detroit and experience participating in large-scale pop-ups.

Interested business owners will want to note these upcoming dates:

  • Upcoming Info Sessions are 6-7 p.m. May 14 and May 27 – virtual sessions will be available through Tech Town.
  • Deadline to apply: 11:59 p.m. on June 1, 2026
  • Vendor notifications: July 8, 2026
  • Market season: November 11, 2026 – January 3, 2027

Funded by the Gilbert Family Foundation and managed by the Downtown Detroit Partnership with support from Bedrock and TechTown, the Downtown Detroit Markets provide a powerful platform for small business growth. This year, Ask Jennyfer is also supporting the effort.

Lisa Borum, owner of Yarn Nerds, called it an incredible experience.

“As a Detroit resident and small business owner, it meant so much to be part of an event that celebrates our city’s creativity, community and holiday spirit,” Borum said. “The market gave us the opportunity to connect with such a vibrant and supportive community while sharing our hand-dyed yarn with both returning and new customers. It was truly a wonderful way to grow our family business and be part of the energy of downtown Detroit during the holiday season.”
