DETROIT – The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) hosts its 2nd annual Party in the Park Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6:30-9 p.m. in the award-winning Campus Martius Park.

Contributions will benefit Downtown Detroit parks and public spaces managed by the DDP.

The benefit will also celebrate Campus Martius Park being voted #1 Public Square by USA Today readers. During the program, the organization will officially announce the renewal of the DDP’s management of current spaces and expanded trust partnership with the City of Detroit to steward more than a dozen public spaces.

“This summer event shines a light on the growth and history of the Downtown and particularly Campus Martius Park, the city’s centerpiece and gathering space,” said DDP CEO Eric B. Larson. “The Party in the Park helps to keep our parks sustainable and vibrant for present and future generations.”

Attendees will enjoy premium networking with civic, corporate, and community leaders, live entertainment by the Dan Rafferty Band, hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails, and much more.

Currently, the DDP stewards seven Downtown parks and public spaces:

  • Campus Martius Park (CMP): voted by USA Today readers as the #1 Public Square in the nation. CMP hosts hundreds of programs and events each year, some of which include the Detroit Tree Lighting, beach parties, Campus Martius Kids Day and Movie Nights in the D.

It has expanded seating areas, a dog park, historic fountains, gardens, and hosts numerous free events.
  • Capitol Park: nestled in the heart of the city and surrounded by residential, restaurants, and retail spaces. This gem offers a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for an afternoon stroll with friends, a visit to the off-leash dog park, fitness classes and more.
