Inforum’s new POWER Golf format attracts sell-out golf crowd in tough economy; Networking dinner tix still available
Debbie Dingell, Sandra Pierce, Nancy Schlichting, Sue Cischke and Mary Lehmann among executives to participate

Inforum has introduced a winning formula for a successful golf fundraiser in today’s tough economy. Inforum expects to sell the last 8 golf spots soon for its first-ever POWER Golf event on Monday, June 8. Tickets to the Grand Dinner and networking reception at Pine Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake are still available by contacting Inforum at 313.578.3230.

A new half-day schedule and POWER Golf promising intimate networking opportunities with some of Michigan top women business leaders are the secrets to the popular golf fundraiser for Inform Center for Leadership (ICL). ICL is the non-profit education and research arm of Inforum, the largest business organization for women in Michigan.
“Golf is an important business tool but women often miss out on making connections that can be made on the course,” said Inforum President and CEO Terry Barclay. “The emphasis of POWER Golf is helping women break through the ‘grass ceiling,’ building relationships, mentoring, sharing resources and networking for women on the course and in the club house.”

The Inforum POWER Golf program features nine holes of golf at 2 p.m. following a noon luncheon to allow morning office hours for busy professionals. In addition to golf packages, tickets are available for the power networking reception and Grand Dinner and silent auction at Pine Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, Mich.

To facilitate valuable networking, each golf team includes a POWER Golfer–a highly recognized executive woman. Some of the women who have committed to be POWER Golfers at this event are: Sandra Pierce, CEO & President -Michigan, Charter One Bank N.A.; Nancy Schlichting, President & CEO, Henry Ford Health System; Sue Cischke, Group Vice President, Sustainability, Environment & Safety Engineering, Ford Motor Company; and Mary Lehmann, Senior Vice president, Strategic Initiatives, and Treasurer, ArvinMeritor.

Additional influential women leaders will participate in the golf clinic to help women become more comfortable and confident on the course. Additional executives will participate in the power networking reception, Grand Dinner and silent auction.

The silent auction includes a gift basket with signed copies of books by Martha Stewart, who recently presented the keynote address at Inforum’s annual meeting. Other notable auction items include premier tickets to Detroit Tigers game of choice; jewelry; golf for four at Pine Lake Country Club and Walnut Creek Country Club; and a Bed & Breakfast package from the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dearborn.

Grand Dinner networking participants include Debbie Dingell, Vice Chairman, General Motors Foundation and Executive Director, Public Affairs & Community Relations, General Motors Corporation, and Kouhaila Hammer, CEO, Ghafari Associates LLC.

Dinner keynote speaker Pam Swenson, CEO of the Florida-based EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association), will share information about the proven benefits of networking on the golf course. The EWGA promotes opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life.

Proceeds from this event fund scholarships for women in career transition to participate in leadership development programs offered by Inforum Center for Leadership (ICL). ICL is a non-profit organization that conducts research and offers highly regarded leadership development programs that allow women to challenge themselves and reach the next level in their careers. ICL is privately funded through corporate investor companies, the individuals who participate in ICL leadership training programs, and events such as POWER Golf.
