ACG Western Michigan announces winners of annual student competition

Call it the fastest – and potentially the most potent – student internship on the planet.

That’s how the Association for Corporate Growth’s annual ACG Cup generally works. And, this year, student teams from Grand Valley State University and Michigan State University took home 2018 honors as well as funds for furthering their scholarship.

During the competition, students analyzed complex real-world business cases and presented strategies involving merger and acquisition alternatives, valuation, capital markets, finance options and corporate strategy. Student participants gain invaluable experience in a real-world context, receive feedback from leaders in the local business community, create networks and compete for a cash prize.

Association for Corporate Growth Western Michigan announced that the teams from Grand Valley State University and Michigan State University won its annual intercollegiate competition at ACG Western Michigan’s annual Outstanding Growth Awards event.

Grand Valley State University won in the MBA category. Total prize money is $6,000. The team consisted of: Sten Barbour, Beniah Dickson and Pushpaja Dodla. Michigan State University won in the Undergraduate category. Total prize money is $3,000. The team consisted of: Chris Mulligan, Michael Murri and Ethan Thomas.

The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Western Michigan Chapter was founded in 1999 by a small group of M&A professionals who wanted the opportunity to share best practices and network with peers. With a chapter membership of more than 220 individuals from in and around the West Michigan region, ACG Western Michigan represents the voice of the middle-market and provides a forum for industry professionals to share knowledge and grow their professional and personal networks.
