ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz, a major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, officially opened its first Washtenaw County location at 2103 West Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti. Nearly 300 residents attended the grand opening celebration, marking a significant milestone as Sheetz expands its presence across southeast Michigan.
The festivities began at 9 a.m. with multiple prizes awarded throughout the morning, including a grand prize giveaway of free Sheetz for a Year, valued at $2,500 in Sheetz gift cards. The store’s ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 10:45 a.m., with community members joining Sheetz leadership to commemorate the occasion.
“Today marks a special day for Sheetz as we open our first location in Washtenaw County,” said Nick Ruffner, Public Affairs Manager for Sheetz. “The turnout and enthusiasm from the Ypsilanti community have been incredible. We’re honored to be here and excited to serve this community. This is just the beginning of our relationship with Washtenaw County, and a further commitment to being great neighbors in communities throughout Michigan.”
In honor of the grand opening, Sheetz made $2,500 donations to both Special Olympics Michigan and the Food Gatherers Food Bank.
The location, which opened to the public at 8 a.m., welcomed customers with free self-serve coffee and fountain beverages throughout the grand opening day. The new store employs approximately 30 individuals from the local community, creating career opportunities with one of the nation’s most recognized employers.
Named a Best Regional Fast Food Chain by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards, the Ypsilanti store offers Sheetz’s award-winning Made-to-Order menu where customers can order any of Sheetz’s customized specialty food and beverage items around the clock, including breakfast all day, appetizers, burgers, hot dogs, subs, tacos, salads and crafted beverages like lattes, milkshakes, smoothies and more.
