Opportunity Resource Fund has named Shawn Snell as its new chief financial officer, a pivotal position as the organization continues to expand its statewide impact across affordable housing, small business lending and community development finance.
“Shawn’s leadership will play a critical role in strengthening our financial infrastructure, supporting long-term sustainability, enhancing reporting and operational excellence and positioning the organization for its next phase of strategic growth,” said Byna Elliott, chief executive officer, Opportunity Resource Fund. “We are thrilled to welcome Shawn to the OppFund leadership team and look forward to the expertise, stability and vision he brings to the organization.”
Snell brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience spanning banking, mortgage finance, capital planning, strategic forecasting and operational finance. Most recently, he served as senior director of finance at Rocket Companies where he supported enterprise mortgage banking operations representing more than $115 billion in annual originations and a servicing portfolio exceeding $600 billion.
“The organization’s mission-driven focus on expanding economic opportunity and strengthening communities deeply resonates with me both professionally and personally,” said Snell. I look forward to partnering with the leadership team, board and team members to support the organization’s continued growth, financial strength and long-term impact across Michigan.”
Prior to Rocket, Snell spent nearly a decade at Fifth Third Bank as regional CFO and senior finance leader, serving executive leadership teams overseeing more than $12 billion in assets and $34 billion in deposits.
In addition to his corporate finance leadership, Snell has consistently invested in mentorship, leadership development and community engagement across Southeast Michigan — values that strongly align with OppFund’s mission and commitment to equitable economic opportunity.
