DEARBORN, Mich. – A “once-in-a-lifetime” event is highly significant.
Occasionally, the phrase is misused and exaggerated. But the Dearborn Area Board of Realtors (DABOR) is celebrating its “once-in-a-lifetime” Centennial from June through November to honor the real estate profession, homeownership, the neighborhoods and the communities that partner with DABOR on a daily basis to help ensure an ethical, transparent and thriving Michigan real estate industry.
“A 100th anniversary is more than a milestone; it is a celebration of the people, relationships, and dreams that have shaped the Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS over the last century,” said DABOR executive Chastity Townsend. “For 100 years, our members have helped families find homes, build generational wealth, and create stronger communities. This celebration honors the leaders who came before us, recognizes those carrying the mission forward today, and inspires the next generation to continue making a difference. It is a moment of pride, reflection, and gratitude for everyone who has been part of the DABOR story.”
DABOR was founded in 1926 to unite and elevate local real estate professionals. It initially served real estate professionals operating in the immediate Dearborn municipal area. The official governing DABOR bylaws were formally drafted and enacted on April 6, 1957. These guidelines codified the board’s organizational framework and aligned it with national standards. In 2025, to accurately reflect a shifting and growing geographic footprint, the association shifted its primary public-facing brand from “Dearborn Area Board of Realtors” to the acronym DABOR.
Over the past century, DABOR has evolved from a small municipal group into a regional real estate leader. While rooted historically in Dearborn, DABOR has greatly expanded its membership over the last few decades to encompass real estate agents and affiliates working in these communities and throughout Southeast Michigan:
