Our economy is coming off the worst recession since the Great Depression. We have been hit hard with companies becoming bankrupt, job losses and many businesses closing their doors. Despite the economic downturn, entrepreneurship in Michigan is alive and well. Even when unemployment is high and industries are down, there are new businesses opening. Surprisingly, the majority of these new ventures are launched by people who lost their jobs; people who are ready to overcome all these obstacles by turning them into an opportunity. Hence entrepreneurship is serendipity. Entrepreneurs search purposefully for the sources of innovation and proceed to invent.
Creating a business alone is not enough, instead you should aim to create good business karma. The simple ethical basis of karma is that good engenders good and vice versa. Recently karma has emerged within business. Good business karma is building value-based businesses and using the business skills to solve social ills.
Applying karmic philosophy to our business models includes giving donations to community development, engaging in collaborative projects (the open source movement) and business networking. Dedication and selfless commitment to build and nurture the next
generation, sharing your knowledge, assisting your colleague, mentoring the budding entrepreneurs will generate a good aura around you.
Any actions performed with karma in mind can create a huge difference to you as well as the person/organization you are helping. Dispensing good karma will bring professional reputation and career development. Hence always remember to practice good business karma — this offers cultured solutions to your entire entrepreneurial problems.
