Michigan company creates solid foundation for deck builders

Mar. 11, 2010 - Grand Rapids, Mich. - The construction industry is under constant pressure to adapt and improve products that adhere to new code requirements, some of which often lead to more headaches for contractors. WP Fail-Safe LLC has created a revolutionary new product that satisfies the demands from inspectors while creating an unprecedented level of efficiency for builders—the WP Fail-Safe Form Footer.

Regional Sales Manager Harry Richardson said that from the products’ inception, WP Fail-Safe made it a top priority to have the Fail-Safe Form Footer rooted in Michigan. “Obviously, the landscape of the manufacturing sector in Michigan has changed dramatically over the past few years,” Richardson said. “We have a sense of pride with our ‘Michigan-made’ product and we’re focused on having a positive impact on the state’s economy.”

Ideal for preparing concrete footings for decks, sheds, pole barns and various other product applications, the Fail-Safe Form Footer System is a rugged plastic molded shell that has integrated horizontal and vertical rebar holders. Each unit comes with rebar pre-cut to correct length and bent. Once the rebar is snapped into the integrated rebar holders, the footer form may be placed directly into the excavation and it is ready for concrete to be poured. Currently, the competition uses methods that require rebar to be custom cut and bent, wire-tied together, placed at the bottom of an excavated hole that that can be as deep as 60” and then placing their form over the rebar cage with no facility for placing vertical rebar. The Fail-Safe Form Footer can save the professional contractor up to one hour per hole and it could save the weekend warrior an entire afternoon.

Manufactured in Grand Rapids, Mich., the WP Fail-Safe Form Footer was introduced in Dec. 2009 and has received an overwhelming response from audiences at international events such as the 2010 International Builders’ Show and the 2010 World of Concrete Show.
