Diversity

- Ask just about any American for a success story as it relates to diversity and you’re likely to hear two words: Barack Obama. Indeed, when Corp! magazine contacted this year’s Diversity Awards winners, the election of the nation’s 44th president (and the first citizen of African-American heritage to hold the post) was typically among the highlights given for progress made to date.

- More than 200 people gathered to celebrate the 56 winners of Corp! magazine’s Salute to Diversity Awards at a breakfast Tues., Oct. 14 at the Troy Marriott.

- Differences. While it may be human nature to focus on what makes us distinctive, the reality is there are those traits that bind us together as a community.

- Corp! Magazine, Michigan’s largest business magazine and a long-time supporter of diversity and multiculturalism in business, has announced the companies, organizations and individuals that will be recognized in its annual Salute to Diversity issue and honored at a special event in October.

- Some of the best run organizations today have discovered the real “killer app” goes beyond technology and infrastructure. It’s people. And more to the point, it’s people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities. In short, it’s our differences that not only set us apart but make us better.
